Both Paradise Cove and the Point Dume Club are million dollar manufactured home communities on the bluffs above the beaches of Point Dume in western Malibu. Paradise Cove was established in the 1960’s, and the Point Dume Club in the 1970’s, as Angelenos started to seek more affordable beach properties. Affordability here is the key – both Parks offer the opportunity for home ownership at a fraction of the cost of a nearby single family home. Many of these homes have been remodeled, leaving little left that is “mobile” except the chassis! And although you do not own the land when you buy a mobile home (and instead pay a monthly “space rent” to the Park) you also do not pay property taxes.
Paradise Cove is located on the eastern side of Point Dume and has the reputation of being one of the most laid back surfing communities in Malibu. Residents enjoy taking their golf carts down to the “Cove” beaches below to surf or dine out at the popular, beachside Paradise Cove Beach Cafe. This gated Park with 279 home sites, also offers a clubhouse, a tennis & basketball court, playground for resident’s use, and is lush with old-growth trees. Homes here range from a 1 bedroom, cottage with no view that sold in 2015 for $330,000, to a record breaking $4 million fully renovated, home on the bluff with a breathtaking 180-degree ocean view.
Point Dume Club
Point Dume Club lies on the western edge of Point Dume, overlooking Westward and Zuma Beaches. It is known more for it’s “Country Club” atmosphere, with a spacious clubhouse complete with several meeting rooms, billiard room, large swimming pool & spa, tennis court, dog park and 24-hour guarded gate. Residents can walk or take a golf cart to the nearby Point Dume Shopping Plaza, Point Dume Elementary School, or the beaches below the bluff. Tree growth is restricted to preserve ocean views, as many homes in this well planned community do have a view. Prices currently range from $450,000 for a smaller no view home, to a private sale over $3 million for a newly built home on the rim.
